“Even the doyenne of interior design, admits that decorating with rugs can be a challenge”, the Herald Sun article read in the Real Estate (Home Matters) guide with our very own Woven Simplicity designer Shaynna Blaze.
“Everything that we consider a feature and gives us that wow factor is at eye level, but when you have a great rug, it’s amazing how it really lifts a space” Shaynna said. “Never under estimate the power of a great rug.”
Read the Herald Sun article below covering:
The power of one – The unsung hero’s of a room
Purpose Driven – Know what your rugs job is ( art or a space definer)
Making Connections – If the rug is connecting a space, it needs to work with it nowt against it
Sizing it up – Size matters
Price point – If you want longevity it’s worth the investment
A question of balance, The Herald Sun Louise Surette shares Shaynna’s words of wisdom:
“Nothing says wow more than a bright, bold rug but in order for it to fulfil it’s role, it has to be the star of a room.
I love a big statement rug, but it has to work with everything else and if it is clashing with the other features in the room, then you are stuck with a rug that is fighting for attention.
That isn’t to say you can’t have a bold rug as well as bold artwork or any other strong features, they just have to have a common thread through their colour palette.
If they aren’t in the same colour palette, they will constantly fight each other.
There has to be a balance.” Shaynna Blaze
Thanks Shaynna for the great tips and the Herald Sun and Louise Surette for a great article in Saturday May 6 2017 publication.
