Describe your style in 3 words?

Classic, Modern, Liveable

When & what made you start Santamaria Design?

I’ve always had a passion for both interiors and for fashion. Growing up, my mum was very creative – she loved to paint, sew our clothes and decorate the house, so I was immersed in creativity from a young age.

Coming from a family owned business – I always knew I would start my own one day.

What are your top style tips to make a space feel inviting, unique and inspiring?

Incorporate meaningful pieces into the interior – whether it be special items from travel or a beautiful piece of art.

Add greenery – this really lifts a space and it’s great to bring in a touch of nature.

Bring in a mix of textures and layering to your home for that added level of comfort and interest

What’s the one piece of advice you would tell your younger self?

Be kinder to yourself and always follow your gut instinct. I’m still working on both!

What’s your favourite part of any project?

I think it’s delivering all the concepts and the joy it brings to clients when their homes are transformed. I really believe a beautiful home that reflects the individual, can actually enhance a person’s happiness and bring great joy.

If you could style anyone’s home, who’s would it be?

Ellen DeGeneres – I love her energy and fun vibe. She is such an inspiring human it would be a pleasure.

What’s your go-to rug?

I really love the Madison – it’s so soft and such a gorgeous mix of luxurious wool and art silk. Client’s always love this one and it works well in so many interiors.

Any key pieces, trends or colour palettes you are loving at the moment?

I am really loving embracing all the natural Australian colours into our interiors.  They are stunning.  Whether it be a simple bunch of eucalyptus with a pop of colour on a dining table or a cosy accent chair in a nude pink, tan or soft green.

All the natural timber is also a favourite both in flooring or furniture.  It helps create a nice balance.

What’s your biggest design no-no?

Too much clutter is definitely not my favourite thing.

What couldn’t you do without when creating a space?

A beautiful piece of Art and a lovely rug.

If you could have one super power, what would it be?

An endless supply of energy!

What’s on your design wish list at the moment?

Gosh I’m looking out for a stunning piece of Australian Art loaded with colour for my own home. It’s so important to support our talented Aussie artists.
