We spend 5 minutes with The Real Estate Stylists, finding out their top style tips, design no-no's and more...
Describe your style in three words?
Classic, contemporary and always-evolving.
What are your top style tips to make a home feel inviting, unique and inspiring?
Lamps and lighting are super important and set the vibe of your home. Try only using the lamps in the living spaces and bedrooms instead of your overhead lights. This will create an inviting, calm and cosy space.
We also love using large scale artwork to create impact. If you have a big blank wall, consider hanging a large oversize statement artwork that you love. In the past, we’ve framed large fabrics for artwork and they make the perfect statement piece.
What do you love most about designing/styling?
There are so many things we love about our job but I think we love the transformation the most.
We see properties at all stages when we first walk through, whether they’re still tenanted, half packed-up, undergoing renovations or still being built in some cases!
Having the opportunity to bring it to life with our styling is so exciting for us. There’s something very satisfying about being the final piece of the puzzle!
What does a typical workday look like for you?
Our team starts every day at our HQ with 10 minutes of Yoga. As our line of work is quite physical and often fast-paced, it’s great to start the day with lots of stretching, deep breaths and often a bit laughing!
We then have a team meeting to go through the run of the day, load the trucks and vans, head out and work our magic in our client’s properties!
Our collection team then pick up furniture from a sold property and get that back to our warehouse where we unpack everything and start again! We usually all finish up back at HQ to prepare for the next day.
If you could style anyones home, who’s would it be?
Beyonce. For no other reason than to become friends with her… or her assistant… or her assistant’s assistant.
What’s the best cure for a creative block?
We think a great way of curing a creative block is to get out of your everyday world and do something different. Sometimes things can get stagnant in an everyday routine and you never know where inspiration will strike!
The one piece of advice you would tell you younger self?
Don’t worry, the universe has got you! Also, ditch the pink eyeshadow, it’s not for you.
What’s your biggest design no-no?
Small rugs in large rooms. If you think you’ve got the right size rug, go up a size! It’s much better to have all of your furniture on a rug than not touching it.
What’s your “go-to” rug?
We are all HUGE fans of the Trieste rug from The Rug Collection! These rugs never touch the ground at our warehouse because they go straight back out again. We love the pattern and it works so well in a variety of properties and styles.
What would you do with a day off?
A day off for me usually involves walking my dog Rosemary, a bit of yoga, catching up with friends and eating yummy food.
Who do you Instagram stalk for style inspiration?
We love @thelocalproject and @arentpyke_inout
Some serious inspiration on their pages!
