About Rosebery Engine Yards.
History. In the making.
Inspired by Industry
Once a central hub for industrial innovation, Rosebery Engine Yards has undergone a revitalisation.
It has been reclaimed, repurposed, and reimagined to preserve the industrious essence of its former engine works, offering a historically rich setting to foster creativity and collaboration.
This adaptive reuse development honours the past but looks boldly towards the future, marking an exciting transition that acknowledges the heritage while envisioning a future filled with promise, where fresh chapters of history will unfold.
Rosebery was among the first planned neighborhoods in Sydney, along with Haberfield and Dacey Gardens.
This development led to the establishment of various factories in the area, including Buzacott & Co’s Rosebery Engine Works, Commonwealth Weaving Mills, and the Westinghouse factory, as well as other industrial facilities such as beverage and motor manufacturing companies.
Each warehouse building on the premises is recognised and designated as a locally significant heritage item.
The former Commonwealth Weaving Mills and Frederick Rose factories, along with their interiors at 115-133 Dunning Avenue, are listed as I2258.
Similarly, the former Westinghouse factory and its interiors at 135-151 Dunning Avenue are designated as I2260.
